Method for boron and borax application in agricultural industry

In previous post, we introduced the magic functions of borax in agriculture.In this post, we will introduce the application method for Boron and borax application in agricultural industry.

Boron is available in granular, prilled, powder, or liquid forms. Sodium tetraborate, (Na2B4O7·5H2O)is the most common boron fertilizer material. Borax(Na2B4O7·10H2O) and sodium pentaborate(Na2B10O16·10H2O) are other common boron fertilizer materials. Borax is mainly applied as base fertilizer, banding and foliar spraying.

First of all,In the soil with heavy boron deficiency, borax can be used as base fertilizer . It should be fully mixed with farm fertilizer, chemical fertilizer or appropriate amount of dry soil and avoid direct contact with seeds. In this way,borax should be applied while broadcasting , and when it is used as base fertilizer, boron is taken up by the plants’ roots and meanwhile the time of boron supply from soil can also be extended. 

Secondly, for the soil with less boron deficiency problem , borax fertilizer can be used as topdressing. It should be mixed with human and animal manure or chemical fertilizer while broadcasting ,the effect is remarkable with less negative impact of borax residue on the soil.

Last but not the least:‌foliar spraying,this is suitable for soil without serious boron deficiency. The borax fertilizer solution can be sprayed on the surface and back of leaves , because the pores are mainly on the back of the leaves surface, the reverse spray effect is better. The spray concentration is generally 0.1% to 0.2%, and wait 4 hours after each spray to ensure absorption.In some cases spraying is a better way of fertilizing particularly if the season for dry bulk blend broadcast has expired.
