High purity Potassium Nitrate

Recently, lots of customers have inquired about high-purity potassium nitrate products, specifically grades with a purity of 99.8% or above 99.9% for optical glass applications. Our supplied high-purity potassium nitrate, as shown in the attached figure, is granular with a purity exceeding 99.9%.

Potassium nitrate serves primarily as a potassium donor in the chemical strengthening of optical glass. Via ion exchange reactions, it elevates the potassium ion concentration on the glass surface to generate a compressive stress layer, which enhances the hardness and impact resistance of the glass substrate.

High-purity potassium nitrate (purity ≥ 99.9%) is indispensable for fulfilling the hardness specifications of high-grade optical glass. Its ultra-high purity and minimal impurity levels avert the ingress of extraneous ionic contaminants that would impede the development of the glass compressive stress layer. Furthermore, it exhibits outstanding thermal and chemical stability, resisting thermal decomposition and the generation of hazardous byproducts under high-temperature processing conditions, so as to sustain consistent quality and functional performance of optical glass components.

Small tips:Since this product is applied to optical glass ion exchange processes, any foreign impurities will damage the compressive stress layer of glass. All packaging and transport tools must be thoroughly cleaned before use to eliminate dust, metal debris and other foreign ions.
